About Me

Hi! My name is Jon. I'm from the US and have been living in Japan since 2020.

I starting learning Japanese in 2017 and passed the N2 exam in 2019 and N1 in 2021. I learned using the All Japanese All The Time (AJATT) methodology, reading lots of books and watching lots of shows.

I am interested in finance and am studying the 一種外務員資格 material on the side to broaden my Japanese financial industry knowledge. My goal is to pass the CFA someday.

I'm a fan of science fiction and history. My favorite show is Babylon 5, favorite game is Europa Universalis 4, and my favorite books are the Culture series by Iain Banks.

I like programming and reading technical books and papers. Common Lisp is my favorite language for the beauty of the concepts you can express with it.

I work for Morgan Stanley in the technology division where I am responsible for the production equity trading plant, risk management systems, regulatory reporting systems, and incident management in the Asia region.
